2024 Olympic Trials Begin This Weekend

The 2024 United States Olympic Trials for swimming, gymnastics, and track & field teams will begin this weekend, starting on June 15. The competition will air on NBC, USA, and stream live on Peacock.

The most anticipated athletes include Simone Biles (gymnastics), Sha’Carri Richardson (track & field), and Katie Ledecky (swimming). Live coverage on Peacock starts on June 17 and ends on June 23.

Swimming Trials in Indianapolis

The 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials will take place in Indianapolis from June 15-23, with over 700 Olympic hopefuls competing for 52 spots across nine days. Among the notable competitors are two-time Olympian Gabrielle Rose, four-time Olympic champion Ryan Murphy, and seven-time gold medalists Katie Ledecky and Caeleb Dressel.

Events include decathlon heats, men’s hammer qualifiers, pole vault qualifiers, shot put qualifiers, and triple jump qualifiers. SwimSwam’s 2024 U.S. Olympic trials Pick’em contest has received 610 responses, revealing notable trends. The biggest favorite was Bobby Finke in the men’s 800 freestyle, with 99.7% of the vote. Other lopsided picks included Ledecky in the 400, 800, and 1500 free, Finke in the 1500 free, Regan Smith in the women’s 200 fly, and Katie Grimes in the women’s 400 IM.

Caeleb Dressel, seeded fifth in the men’s 50 free, was picked by 60.9% of responders to win. Carson Foster, second-seeded in the 200 fly, was picked by 75.9% to win the 200 IM. In the 400 free, Kieran Smith received more first-place votes than top seed David Johnston. Lilly King, America’s top breaststroker since 2016, received 62.3% of the votes in the 100 breast.
