Lifeguard Tamayo Perry died from a shark attack while surfing off Oahu's North Shore on June 23, 2024.
Honolulu officials and the surfing community mourned Perry, issuing shark warnings and expressing condolences.
Perry joined the Ocean Safety department in July 2016, becoming a respected member of the team and local surfing community.
